The Fogarty International Center at NIH is building the next generation of scientific leaders by supporting research and training programs that produce scientists who can contribute to discoveries that improve health globally, as well as in the U.S.
As we
mark our 50th year, we reflect on our rich and varied legacy. The book
Fogarty at 50: Advancing science for global health since 1968 takes readers through our history: our founding in honor of Congressman John E. Fogarty; the HIV/AIDS crisis that shifted our focus to building research capacity in low- and middle-income countries; specific examples of our scientific accomplishments across research areas; and viewpoints from our fellows, trainees, grantees and partners.
