Special Announcements

Webinar for Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases Funding Opportunities

The Fogarty International Center will host a pre-submission technical assistance webinar to inform potential applicants about two new Notices of Funding Opportunity (NOFOs) related to the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases (GACD) program:

  • PAR-25-213: Implementation Research for Multi-morbidity Management in the Context of Non-communicable Diseases in LMICs and US Tribal Populations (R01 Clinical Trial Optional)
  • PAR-25-223: Implementation Research for Multi-morbidity Management in the Context of Non-communicable Diseases in LMICs and US Tribal Populations (R61/R33 Clinical Trial Required)

The webinar will cover the purpose and objectives of these NOFOs, application requirements, and budget considerations. Prospective applicants are encouraged to submit questions prior to the event.

NIH to implement Common Forms for Biographical Sketches

The NIH has announced that it will adopt Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support for all applications and Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs) due on or after May 25, 2025. This change aligns with a federal initiative to standardize disclosure requirements across research agencies.

Supplement for Capacity Building related to Bioethics Research

NIH Office of Science Policy (OSP) is offering administrative supplements for research focused on bioethical issues, aiming to support evidence-based policy development and to build bioethics research capacity. This funding targets projects that examine ethical challenges linked to NIH priorities, such as public health crises, emerging technologies, and patient data use. The initiative encourages projects exploring patient data sharing, real-world data ethics, and patient engagement strategies, along with topics on bioethics education and diversity in innovation.

The John E. Fogarty International Center of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking exceptional candidates with an MD, PhD or equivalent doctoral in biomedical science and senior-level research and research administration experience in one or more scientific areas related to global health for the position of Director of the Division of International Training and Research. Open to U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, and non-U.S. citizens eligible for a valid work authorization.

NIH/PEPFAR Local Implementation Science Network Seeks Applications

Apply to develop a local Implementation Science (IS) alliance that responds to the local priorities and contexts and engage with the larger cross-alliance network comprised of members of all the local alliances. Each local IS alliance will convene partners to develop activities related to implementation challenges in the context of HIV and an overall agenda that addresses consensus-driven implementation science priorities.

  • Applications are now open for the 2025 Next Generation Scientist (NGS) program, a 3-month internship for talented scientists from low- and middle-income countries to gain hands-on experience in pharmaceutical research at the Novartis campus in Switzerland.

  • The African Academy of Sciences (AAS) in partnership with the Frontiers Research Foundation invites all universities and national academies to participate in the 3rd edition of the Frontiers Planet Prize as a National Nominating Body. APHRC to host Grant Webinar Series

APHRC’s Afrique Research Support Hub (ARSH), led by the R&D Ecosystem Strengthening Unit under the RRCS Division, aims to bolster post-PhD researchers’ skills in research conceptualization and grant writing. Through monthly 90-minute webinars in English and French, ARSH provides practical training on general grantsmanship and proposal development, enhancing Africa-centric research capacity.

NIH to host course on ethical and regulatory aspects of clinical research

This course is offered to anyone interested or involved in the ethics of clinical research with human subjects. Participants represent multiple disciplines including research teams, IRB members, physicians, psychologists, nurses, social workers, administrative staff, students, and others. The course meets Wednesday mornings from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. ET (USA) from September 25 to November 6, 2024.

Two-Part Virtual Event, NIH Grants Process Primer: Application to Award

NIH is hosting a two-part event that will provide participants with the basics to help you in your role working with the NIH grants process from application preparation to award. In Part One NIH experts will introduce participants to the NIH as an organization, key components of finding the right funding opportunity, the NIH team, application, and more. In Part Two participants will have the opportunity to view demos and engage during this next-level look at tools and systems used during the application process.

Manuscript, Abstract & Poster Submission Opportunities

  • The NIDA International Program is now accepting proposals for plenary sessions for the 2025 NIDA International Forum. The Forum will be held in conjunction with the 2025 College on Problems of Drug Dependence Annual Scientific Meeting.   • The Research for Health in Humanitarian Crises (R2HC) Forum will be a 3-day event, held in Nairobi, Kenya between 7-9 May 2025, and co-hosted with the African Population Health Research Center (APHRC). Elrha is inviting humanitarian health research, policy, and practice experts, with experience relevant to the key objectives and themes of the Forum, to contribute to making it a stimulating, engaging, and inclusive event.

  • The International Cancer Screening Network (ICSN) is now accepting abstract submissions for ICSN 2025, which will be held June 18-20, 2025 in Aarhus, Denmark. The theme of ICSN 2025 is "Shaping the Future of Cancer Screening." Submitters are encouraged to submit abstracts that explore topics relating to one of the 10 abstracts themes.
