Project Description
Excessive gestational weight gain (GWG) and postpartum weight retention (PPWR) contribute to the onset of metabolic complications and related chronic comorbidities such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease in women living with HIV (WLHIV). This project will conduct targeted and untargeted metabolomics testing in urine specimens collected in the first trimester of pregnancy to identify early biomarkers of GWG and PPWR. The goal is to allow early interventions to minimize adverse weight outcomes thereby improving long-term metabolic health in WLHIV.
