Project Description
The GEOHealth Bangladesh Center for Research Training main phase grant was jointly awarded to the University of Chicago (UofC) and International Centre for Diarrheal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B) in 2015 to strengthen the research capacity of Bangladesh on pressing environmental and occupational health threats.
In this renewal phase, we propose to refine and advance the training curricula that were used over the past five years to incorporate more materials on using advanced technologies and analytical tools such as artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), image analysis, mobile health (mHealth) data capture/analytics, and exposure data science for analyzing environmental exposure and health effects data with the existing materials, all of which are highly relevant to the partner award.
Additionaly, we propose to leverage the newly launched masters of public health (MPH) and masters of science in precision health (MSPH) degree programs at UofC as a long-term training option, along with the 1-year post-doctoral and 12-week training at UofC, and shorter term in-country short-course (2 weeks) and workshop (1-2 days) in Bangladesh.
