Project Description

A scale up of the training of health professionals will be sustained through a partnership between medical and nursing education institutions in Uganda and the U.S. so as not to upend the improved health indicators observed so far in Uganda. High population growth and the evolving epidemiological transition in Uganda are creating new challenges and higher demand for health professionals. This project aims to build on the gains of the Medical Education Partnership Initiative (MEPI), to improve service delivery by strengthening health professional inter-disciplinary education, with special emphasis on nursing using innovative models.

All awards through the Health-Professional Education Partnership Initiative (HEPI) are supported by the U.S. Department of State's Office of the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator and Health Diplomacy, which leads, manages and oversees the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
