Project Description
This training program will build upon existing research at our institutions to improve human capacity in HIV- related hematology and transfusion research in South Africa. It aims to improve the academic research stature of the Clinical Hematology division at University of Cape Town and historically disadvantaged partner institutions and to continue to strengthen the Research and Development Academy at the South African National Blood Services. Research will include studies of HIV-positive participants and blood specimens, studies of HIV cure, studies the use novel technologies to detect HIV and implementation science studies directed at HIV-related lymphoma and anemia and exclusion of HIV-infected persons from blood donation.
