Project Description
Mali is a low-income country in Sub-Saharan West Africa where the incidence of mycobacterial infections, primarily tuberculosis, remains high driven in a large part by the persistence of the HIV epidemic with TB being the main cause of death in HIV-infected adults and children. The overarching goal of this research training program is to strengthen the scientific capacity to develop and implement diagnostic and monitoring technologies to address the HIV and TB epidemics. This program, looks to achieve the overall goal of training the next generation of scientists and leaders in diagnostics of HIV and mycobacterial diseases in Mali and the region.
