Project Description
The recent Russian invasion of Ukraine exposed millions to severe stress/trauma, and the mental health after effects are tremendous, while the resources and knowledge to implement, evaluate, and provide necessary care are extremely limited. In partnership with the premier academic institution in Ukraine, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA),and the Ukraine government's Zelenskaya Initiative for Mental Health, this project will build research capacity to:
- incorporate trauma-based knowledge and treatment
- build translational interventions that will be used in trauma care
- implement research to evaluate effectiveness.
Capacity building would take place through in-country workshops, continuous learning, and research fellowship, with later-stage work aimed at changing policy at the national level about how to address this critical need.
