Special Announcements

NCI Seeks Applicants for HIV Research in LMICs

The office of HIV and AIDS Malignancy (OHAM) at the National Cancer Institute is planning to issue a new Notice of Funding Opportunity announcement (NOFO) to solicit applications from eligible institutions of higher educations for specialized centers to conduct research on malignancies in people with HIV in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) and to support early- and mid-career investigators from the United States (U.S.) and LMICs interested in malignancies in people with HIV.

NHGRI Reissues Ethical, Legal and Social Implications Research Grants

The NIH has reissued three Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFO) to study the ethical, legal and social implications (ELSI) of human genetic or genomic research.

NIA seeks revision applications on Alzheimer’s Research

NIA has released a Notice of Special Interest (NOSI), which solicits competitive revision applications that focus on expanding research in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and its related dementias (ADRD). This NOSI invites Competitive Revision applications to existing single research project grants that are not focused on AD/ADRD.

New mHealth Opportunity from Fogarty

The overall goal of the program is to develop an evidence base for the use of mHealth technology to improve clinical and public health outcomes and strengthen mHealth research capacity in LMICs.This NOFO provides support for up to two years for technology development and feasibility studies, followed by a possible transition to expanded research support for validation, larger-scale feasibility, and effectiveness studies.

  • The Duke University's Center for Spirituality, Theology and Health is offering $3,700 scholarships for graduate students from underdeveloped countries to attend a 5-day workshop on conducting research in religion, spirituality, and health. The workshop will be held August 11–15, 2025, and scholarships will cover tuition, airfare, hotel accommodations, and meals. Apply as soon as possible to allow time for visa processing.

  • The Institut Pasteur has launched an international call to recruit new junior research group leaders in the application of cutting-edge transdisciplinary approaches to the exploration of host-microbe, tissue-tissue, or host-environment interactions.

  • Fulbright Brazil in partnership with the Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES), is now accepting proposals for Co-Lead Scholars for the second edition of Fulbright Amazonia. The role is open to one researcher from Brazil and one from the United States, to lead and shape impactful multidisciplinary research on the Amazon region.

  • The UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea International Prize for Research in the Life Sciences is accepting applications to reward the projects and activities of individuals, group of individuals, institutions, and non-governmental organizations for their outstanding contribution to the improvement of human life.

  • UNESCO and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea have launched a fellowship programme for young African women scientists. This initiative is designed to offer targeted support and focuses on promoting equal opportunities in science, by creating concrete opportunities for young women to become actively involved in various life science disciplines.

  • The Introduction to Bioinformatics course (IBT) provides an introduction to the field of bioinformatics, with a focus on important bioinformatic tools and resources.
