Project Description

In this project, we will develop a consolidated bioethics training program at the University of Cape Town Faculty of Health Sciences (UCT FHS), with as the flagship project the establishment of a two-year bioethics MSc degree. The UCT FHS is one of the biggest foreign recipients of NIH funding, and it is very important that we ensure high-quality research ethics training for all those working on NIH-funded projects. We will teach bioethics from perspectives of the African humanities, and will focus on the ethics of new and emerging health technologies.
