Project Description
Finding a permanent cure for people living with HIV is a key priority of the NIH, requiring broad and inclusive basic science research into how the virus remains latent in people on antiretroviral therapy. However, although over 70% of HIV patients live in Africa, very little of the basic science of cure research involves African patients or scientists, a key gap that needs urgent remedy.
This training program is a collaboration between two institutions (Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Ghana) to develop a comprehensive basic science research training program to prepare the next generation of Ghanaian researchers to conduct high- quality HIV basic science and cure research.
