Project Description
High quality and efficient ethics review is a cornerstone of high quality research infrastructure. Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) that comply with international ethics standards and that are able to conduct timely reviews are essential to the advancement of high priority HIV/AIDS research – including research to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS, develop next generation therapies, and reduce health disparities – and other biomedical research seeking to identify effective treatments, optimal prevention strategies, and improved methods of service delivery. This project works to strengthen the capacity of the IRB at Addis Ababa University, College of Health Sciences in Ethiopia through a series of training, mentoring, and technical assistance activities designed to improve the ethics knowledge of IRB members and the administrative efficiency of IRB operations.
