Project Description
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in
Neisseria gonorrhoeae is an urgent global health threat and the prevalence is highest in the Western Pacific Region. The study will identify risk factors for AMR, measure treatment outcomes of pharyngeal infections, and investigate the genomic epidemiology of AMR in
N. gonorrhoeae among men who have sex with men in an HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) program in Vietnam. By contributing new knowledge about AMR in
N. gonorrhoeae and providing crucial information from a population at high risk for AMR, this project will help guide public health efforts aimed at mitigating the spread of drug-resistant gonorrhea.
