Project Description
Forty-one million people die every year from noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) with a disproportionate impact on low- and middle- income countries (LMICs) like Ghana. There is an urgent need to sustainably build NCD expertise in Ghana for cardiovascular, metabolic, and pulmonary disease, with the ultimate goal of training experts who will generate research evidence that can advance public health policy and improve public health.
The goal of this training program with experienced faculty from the Kintampo Health Research Centre and University of Ghana School of Public Health and U.S. partners at Columbia University and Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is to provide mentored life-course NCD and environmental epidemiology training to Ghanaian researchers.
