Fogarty International Center trains the next generation of scientists to address global health needs. This includes researchers in low- and middle- income countries. Fogarty believes that communities aided by local scientists can best identify and address health challenges, which reduces reliance on external experts while building capacity.

In 2024, Fogarty offered an administrative supplement to help broaden the scientific workforce. Fogarty received exceptional applications and achieved its goal of widening the geographic, scientific, and institutional scope of its awards.

In this series, we've highlighted three projects that received and benefitted from this support. The projects represent three separate Fogarty training programs: the HIV Research Training program, the Global Infectious Diseases program, and the Global Environmental and Occupational Health program.
